Lost – Filling the X-Files void

I have to confess that I really liked the X-Files. Sure, not all episodes were up to standard, but when it was good it was really good. One needs these kind of mysteries, these things we don’t understand. We need to ponder, to have our conspiracy theories, just for the sake of it. So when it finally ended, a void arose that needed to be filled.

It took some time, but then Lost came along. And if you ask me, it’s splendid! It was long time since I heard so many theories about a show, and found so many web sites discussing every little detail of every episode. I’read about the most unlikely tie-ins, and it wouldn’t surprise me if some of them were true.

I’ve seen the whole first season and recently saw the first episode of season 2. Man, was it good! I can’t wait to see the next episode!

Do you like Lost too? Let me know!

  • It's absolutely horrible needing to wait a whole week, 7 days, 168 hours and a whole lot of minutes, for another episode. Episode 1 was awesome and left me with a lot of questions. Episode 2 will answer some of those, but raise a whole new set of questions. πŸ˜‰

It's awesome. I love it. After '24' definitely one of my favorite series.

    Lost is great – it's the only tv-series I watch. πŸ™‚

  • Olly says:

Yes, it's ace. Downloading S2Ep2 as we speak πŸ˜‰

  • I loved the X-Files when it was Mulder, Scully & Marlboro Man. I *lost* interest when they brought in other major characters.

24 is my current fave, but having just finished season 4 on DVD (like Jeroen I can't bear week long delays between episodes) I need something to fill the gap… with so much buzz surrounding *Lost*, maybe that's it? Will have to see if I can rent the DVDs…

Are there any good Lost fan sites, 24 seems to be lacking one?

LOST is a hell of a serie. I loved the first season and so far I like the second season too. The way everything is set up in the episodes, the characters.. everything!

The only bad thing with LOST is that some episodes are awesome, some are like "okay, this is crap". I didn't like the new episode two, but it's up for everybody watching to decide. πŸ˜‰

And course there are more awesome episodes than crap episodes..! πŸ™‚

A LOST fan site I visit is Lost-Media.com. I recommend the forum.

Exactly like Jeroen I think LOST comes just after 24. The first 24 season really thrilled me. That was two months ago, now I'm watching the last season. πŸ™

Jeroen, Henrik, Olly and Martin S,

I’m glad to see that you share my excitement about Lost.

    Steve,

I think X-Files had some nice moments in the first episodes when Robert Patrick was introduced too.

I’ve only seen the first season of 24, but that one I really liked. Maybe I should take the time to see the rest of them…

But I would recommend you not to visit any Lost fan sites before you’ve seen it all. Otherwise, it might spoil it for you.

And yes, Jeroen and Martin S, it’s hell having to wait a whole week for the next episode! πŸ™‚

Yeah man! The beggining of season 2 was exciting. Can’t wait to see the next one as well. I’ve been following it since day #1..

It was funny.. i followed it while it was airing in the states and then a portuguese station bought the series and started showing it.
All my friends were getting addicted and begging me to explain stuff, since i had seen pretty much the whole series already. But i couldn’t.. and i wouldn’t.

It’s being a major commercial success.. lots of tv stations are buying the series worldwide, just like X-Files. I agree, Lost filled the void. πŸ˜‰

Have you guys checked this website: http://www.oceanic-air.com/ ? πŸ˜‰

  • Robert Nyman says:

    andr3,

I'm just about to see the second episode (in season two) myself, so I'm all excited!

And, as you write, it seems to be becoming a major worldwide success, and rightly so.

After season one, I made some visit to the Oceanic Air site, yes. Clicking on the seating charts with Hurley's number and all… πŸ™‚

  • andr3 says:

Yeah, that site is filled with easter eggs πŸ˜‰ awesome

I've read on digg that a dude claims he discovered the meaning of hurley's numbers.

if you want to see it too, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/sh/47743274/
    (At least it makes sense…)

  • Robert Nyman says:

    andr3,

I don’t even dare trying to visit that site; I don’t want to know (except for my own speculations), I want to be surprised! πŸ™‚

    Martin S,

I liked the second episode of season two as well, although the first episode was definitely better.

  • Oh, thanks a lot guys. I've now wasted hours in the Lost forum.

  • Robert Nyman says:

    Colin,

    Ha ha! πŸ˜€

  • I've gotten the first season of Lost – we've (it's also a hit with my better half) watched 1,2,3,4 and are watching episodes 5 & 6 tonight.

I have to admit it's intruiging… reminds me of Half-Life for some reason – maybe the mystery suited guy?

Thanks for pushing me over the edge to do something about missing it on tv πŸ™‚

  • Robert Nyman says:

    Steve,

I'm happy you like it, it's a great show! πŸ™‚

I wonder what we'll force you to watch next time… πŸ˜‰

  • I love Lost. Seriously. I just watched ep. 3 and I'm going insane. I have to wait till next week _thursday_ before I can download it, cos by then I'll be back in the Netherlands. Yuck!

    Man it's a great show. πŸ™‚

  • Robert Nyman says:

    Faruk,

I've only seen the first two episodes of season 2. Can't wait to see the third one! πŸ™‚

  • You guys may have missed this as it's buried in a UK TV station website – a definite treat for all Lost fans – be sure to click 'I'm new to this' first time… it's like a Lost Mini Game – best hook-in website I've seen for a TV show [flash required]!

    Lost Mini-Site

  • Robert Nyman says:

    Steve,

    Nice! πŸ™‚

However, I hate when a web site resizes my web browser window.

  • Oh yeah, hadn't noticed that.

I spent an hour or so cutting that sort of crap out of a flash template I was working on the other day!

  • MAURO cABALLERO says:

I Think Lost is one of the more cool hystory series it´s better than any other i think it has to have at least ten seasons
