Friday night, we had a power outage in the area where I live. Pretty cozy when everything goes dark, and looking out over the neighborhood, I realized how much everyone’s overusing lights and electricity. Anyway, Fredrika and I lit a lot of candles, crawled up in our couch and…
No! What did you think there? 🙂
We watched a TV programme on the laptop, since it was the only thing working in the house. Pathetic or nice?
I had no idea that you actually had public electricity (even though its only parttime)in that area of sweden, thought it was some sort of “personal” fuel driven generators.
It may be cozy once, but when the power goes out several times a week it gets old very fast.
We've had massive problems for over a month where I live. There has been five outages ranging between 5 and 13 hours. It's a major pain in the behind when you live out in the sticks, since no power means no water.
I certainly hope that the power company fixes these problems before it gets really cold. If not, they should change their name one more time … from the silly "E.ON" to the more adequate "E.OFF"! 🙁
Sorry to hear that. And yes, I can imagine it's not that nice if it happens time and time again.
Heh, heh – thought you were going 'content=adult' for a moment…
I vote 'nice' – but then we've done the same, only it was a dvd we were about to watch when the power went out.
Yay, we're not the only ones then! 🙂
We had a lot of power shortages during Milosevic regime, especially during NATO bombings, I don't remember these times as particulary cozy… 😉
However, rumours say that we had huge birth rate increase some 9 months after these frequent shortages. That's probably because not many serbian families own laptops. 😉
Good to see you here!
Ha ha! Well, we have one baby, and that's sufficient for the moment. Hence the laptop… 🙂
The power in our area is being upgraded at the moment and being out of town we also need it for water, so a couple of days ago we invested in a generator and although we haven't used it yet it's nice to know it's there.
It will surely take the fun out of "watching movies on the laptop" though 😉
Yeah I understand that.
But just so you know, it's great fun "watching movies on the laptop"! 🙂
I wish there would be more power outages where I live. I am an amateur astronomer and love to watch the sky with my telescope. The problem with light pollution is that it has become more and more difficult to see faint stars, the wilky way, nebulae, etc. I remember there was a power outage some time ago and the night sky was fantastic 🙂
Interesting point of view. I also love to watch the star-filled sky, and since we moved to a house outside of Stockholm, living next to a piece of woods, it has gotten a lot better for me! 🙂
