The cat and the dream

Ok, this might scare you a little, but I had the weirdest dream just before I woke up this morning. I (don’t?) hope that anyone of you are good at interpreting dreams, so here goes:

The dream

For some reason, I dreamt that my maternal grandmother, turning 89, showed up, fitter than ever, at a location (that doesn’t exist in real life, but was instead made up of lots of weird circumstances), and she had brought her cat (she’s never had a cat in her entire life, to my knowledge). But, something was different about the cat. It had a mask, and not just any mask, but a dog mask…

Its shape was maybe vaguely familiar to the well-known Phantom of the Opera-mask, and it covered just the face of the cat. When the cat made a meowing, or any other kind of noise, my grandmother started hitting it with a cane (no, she doesn’t have a cane…), a bit like Michael J. Fox gets hit in the Back to the Future movies, yelling:

Bad dog, bad dog!

And that was the dream…

And yeah, yeah, I know you’re all thinking “stay off crack, man” right now, but seriously, what the hell kind of dream is that? πŸ™‚

I’m afraid of calling my grandmother…

Call her, tell her, have a laugh about it together πŸ˜‰

(I don't know much about interpreting dreams, but I know that disoriented feeling when you wake up and have dreamt something totally weird – like your example – it normally is just the brain's way of processing totally unrelated things and emotions. I most often have vivid dreams in time of emotional turmoil, like when you grief, you need a lot of sleep, and you will dream a lot when you do sleep, just the brains way of helping you deal with what's going on)

As a former colleague of Robert I knew this would happen sooner or later.

'Twas in the spring of 2001 I first recognized the early signs of confusion in young Roberts' eyes when I tried to explain the basics of trigonometry. (No, it's not a reference to that Abba song from the Arrival album).

Later, while trying to grasp the concept of placing SOME functionality in separate application layers instead of in the interface java colossus he was building he regarded me with tear-filled eyes and uttered: SQL Server? I thought that was just a myth? And VB, isn't that a collection of diseases that befall people of ill repute?

It's amazing he has made it this far, if you ask me… =D

Hej Robert, hoppas allt är bra med dig!

    Jrf,

Yeah I guess you're right. Anyway, I will call her. πŸ™‚

    Hej Dan!

I'm just fine, and I hope you're fine too! Oh, and VB is still regarded as a disease, and trigonometry is scary. πŸ™‚

  • Your dream cat may be telling you to tread softly, trust your intuition and scope out the situation before you pounce, or so they say typically it relates to the feminine-side.

The dog is supposed to represent the male-side thus it sounds like you have some major confusion about some of your close friends…

Typically these types of things can be sorted out by talking to a Wise Mighty Yorkshireman. πŸ˜‰

    Robert Wellock,

    Ha ha! πŸ˜€

    Great, thanks!
