Movies that made me gasp
Yes, apparently it’s casual Friday here today with the topics. 🙂 Let me be a male pig, just this one time, and just list some of the movies that made me gasp (and some of them were also good movies overall):
Seriously, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards? And the scenes in that movie? Man, am I happy I saw it! 🙂
Ok, I forgot Desperado, and just had to add it. 🙂
Salma Hayey is a goddess! Desperado was a good movie, but she just blew me away! When I was studying, I got a postcard from her and made my brother’s girlfriend write a faked message in Spanish on it, so it seemed it was from her (translated, it read something like: “I love you, cutie”).
When you’ve watched this movie for maybe 30 minutes, your mind starts to wander in weird ways, and you have this dream scenario painted up. And, oh yes, it comes true. 🙂
Nine 1/2 Weeks
Kim Basinger. Wow. I mean, wow! When seeing this movie, didn’t everyone just long for such passion?
I must thank some higher power for Natasha Henstridge; she is almost as close to perfection as one can get.
What made you gasp?
Man, woman, whatever. Which movie made you lose your breath?
Leaving Las Vegas
Elisabeth Shue is breathtaking and absolutely stunning in every scene. I have seen that movie at least five times and I never get tired of relaxing my eyes on that beauty!
I also liked her in Cocktail and Back to the Future part II and III, but in Leaving Las Vegas…. Well, you understand…
I'm actually a HUGE Mulholland Drive fan myself (or a fan of David Lynch in general actually), not just because the scene you talk about, but yes, that sure makes a man gasp 😉
Monster's Ball would be another example of a movie that makes one gasp 🙂

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is hard to beat, in my opinion.
In the Swedish film, Jägarna, the opening scene is quite shocking. (The rest of the film is great, too, of course.) I remember seeing it in a movie theatre the first time, and the sounds of dozens of women in the audience crying within the first minute of the film.
Well, after W.A.S.P., what better subject than a "mal pig" one ? And I jump right in (I wonder why…). It's been a long time since I've seen 9 1/2 weeks, so I can't comment. But I agree on the others, and MH is a really great movie.
About species, have you seen the third one ? There is a… uh… creature in it that can make you gasp for sure!
For me, there's one movie and one actress that outdo Natasha Henstridge in the "gasp category", and that's Rebecca Romijn in De Palma's Femme Fatale. Man, the scene at the beginning in the restrooms, and the strip-tease scene in the bar could even make a dead man gasp!
Ok, I had to add Desperado to the post. Salma made me a better person. 🙂

Haha LMAO! Okay Robert just this one time 😉
I can't recall at the top of my head which movie(s) made me gasp in the way you describe. But, you're right, I thought Natasha Henstridge was perfection in beauty too.
If I were a guy, I would have drooled over Catherine Zeta-Jones in the first Zorro. Wow! I was pretty disappointed though when I found out she really wasn't spanish. But yokes, Antonio Banderas… yum.
Ah, yes, Elisabeth is nice, although I don't she's as fantastic as you do. 🙂
Yes, Mr. Lynch has done some really good stuff, and Mullholland Dr. was a good and interesting movie.
Haven't seen Monster's Ball, though.
Haven't seen either, but thanks for the suggestions!
Lord of the Rings and Jägarna did make me gasp, but not for the same reason as the movies mentioned above. 🙂
Actually, I don't even remember if I saw Species 2. Not that spectacular movies, I guess, but maybe I should give number three a try!
Rebecca Romijn is indeed nice!
And yes, you're absolutely right: Catherine Zeta-Jones is amazing. Such a waste to go with Michael Douglas…
Also, I can imagine many women like Antonio Banderas. While we're at it, Salma Hayek In Desperado is truly also a gasp moment. Oh! My! God!
I agree, Salma is very pretty. My son who's 15 adored her in that movie.. so good choice!
Halle Berry is another beauty.. I guess you can say I gasped (but in shock), when she went topless in Swordfish. I take that reaction though everytime I see an actress/actor go nude that I thought would never do it! Thinking of that movie, Hugh Jackman really caught my fancy in that one, especially being I didn't think much of him as Wolverine. Whoa, that man is sexy!
I cannot stand these sort of movies anymore. Always the same stuff … lust and desire. Any good movie goes beyond the desperados and hayeks.
Personally, not a big fan of Halle. Hugh, I can understand. 🙂
Ah, but we can't all be deadly serious and artsy all the time, can we? 🙂
No, it has nothing to do with that. I don't like formula movies that's all, there are many movies that are about beauty, desire and lust, but they tend to be more original.
If you like Salma Hayek you'll definitely like Bandidas with Salma and Penélope Cruz.
There is a scene where they are battling about who is the most passionate kisser and the fortunate man (Steve Zahn) is laying, cuffed, on the bed wearing nothing but a hat… I was soooooooo jealous!
They are both HOT!!
I also like "Good Will Hunting" because it is a very intelligent movie and the look of hurt in Robin Williams eyes when Will has just analyzed the painting in Williams office is so real you can feel the pain. It's an Oscar winning moment, for real.
My 2 cents … 😉
Well, to me it's a mood thing. Sometimes movies made by a formula can be just the thing you want then.
Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂
Good Will Huntingis a good movie, although it seems like ages since I saw it.
Who can forget the kissing scene in Cruel Intentions? Or the scene where Sara Michelle Gellar claims: "And you can put it anywhere you want".. Priceless.
Or Bio Dome, where Kylie Minogue jumps on Baldwin?
They don't make movies like that anymore 🙁
Cruel Intentions, indeed! 🙂
Haven't seem Bio Dome, though; thanks for the tip!
