I’m afraid of happy campers

I want people to be glad and happy, I really do! But sometimes it can get too much…

Naturally I have no problem with people being happy and loving life. People who laugh and smile are usually nicer to be around than grumpy, sour and silent persons (unless you’re in that mood, and you just feel connected).

But, and this is what gets me: people who are always happy, no matter what happens. You can know them for years and they will never ever say anything negative about anything, person or thing. And really, that’s just not true. Some situations or scenarios are just less sympathetic than others.

And I truly believe that if you never let any of the bad energy you get inside of you out, it will add up. The smile will be more and more strained, and eventually, in some way, they will crack. Therefore, the always-happy people are the ones I’m most afraid of will become “bell tower material” (i.e. climb up in a bell tower and start shooting people).

Overly happy people who seem to lack any sort of balance between a good mood and a lesser good scare me. A lot.

These are apparently the ones who end up running into the workplace with an uzi and venting in one big mad rush!!!

Anyway its just not natural to be that nice πŸ™‚

  • Hmmm, normally brainwashed cultists go around grinning like that. πŸ˜‰

I used to think that, too, 'til I married an "even-keeled person." Seemed a bit Stepford-wife-ish. Now I know it's just that he has his own way of dealing with anger and stress–he takes it out on the basketball or the handball court. It's not that he doesn't recognize there are negative things in life, he merely chooses not to give any energy to them.

I'm struggling to think of some way I could relate to this post. Thinking long and hard about atleast 1 person I know like that.. but… I can't think of anyone. I know a bunch of grump asses I guess.. lol

Sometimes, when you've been really happy for such a long time (and I speak from personal experience when I say this), the only way to truly exceed that happiness is to take an automatic weapon to a group of unsuspecting people.

That is why Halo 3 is so popular? Right?

    Kathy,

Good point! Some people do get some leverage through sports or any other physical activity. And I don't want people to be negative, just be a little little less positive when the situation calls for it.

Some people are just great actors. You pry never know what's behind that stone fence.. they'll never let you 'inside' and play sunshine everyday.

The truly happy camper is camping outside, never minding the swedish weather πŸ˜‰

Don't worry, be happy. Doo Da Da Doo, Da Da DooDoo Doo.

In all seriousness now. It is very easy this. Some people overact if their lives depend on it. They dont understand how to act in a givin situation. It is like people that moan all the time for anything about anything again and again. Unbelievable but true. Just be moderato, and laugh when it is suited to laugh. Anyone has a good joke?

  • EC says:

Ok joke.. πŸ˜‰ (good or bad, that's up to you anyway….)

Two guys were discussing the new secretary at their office.

John to George: "Man, I dated her last Tuesday and we had wonderful sex. She's a lot better in bed than my wife!"

    Two days later.

George to John: "Well, I dated her too and we had sex as well, but I still think your wife is way better in bed!"

  • Johan says:

bad … secretary jokes are dumb.

What the hell happened to my comment area? πŸ™‚

  • Robin says:

Thing is, I probably would describe myself as one of those people. I have no real worries, I enjoy my job and my friends, and it just doesn't seem worth expending energy on being angry or upset when there's nothing in my life to really get me down… Does that make me a freak?

  • EC says:

Sorry Robert, got carried away πŸ˜‰ silly jokes are bad I know, but I couldn't resist. Currently happy camper* but September wasn't that special, had better times.

Happy campers are here, there everywhere and you know what: there are times I'm one too! But isn't it just life? you know, ups, downs, sunshine, rain, you know… the works.

*preferably in Sweden during 'sommar' med tjält varje Ã¥r med fru och barn (Wow… swedish course is showing oy… ;))

  • Robert Nyman says:

    Robin,

You're absolutely not a freak! And I don't want you to run around being anry or upset. What I mean is people who are specifically happy all the time, walking by car accidents smiling etc

    EC,

    No problem! πŸ™‚

  • Robin says:

Ah yeah, I see where you're coming from. Yep, definitely not one of those πŸ™‚

  • Robert Nyman says:

    Robin,

Good, then we can still be friends! πŸ™‚

A happy camper lives in a caravan, one does not see the unhapiness of others.
