The Island
To watch a movie directed by someone who’s got Pearl Harbor in his back cataloge isn’t promising. But I was pleasantly surprised! Make no mistake: given the movie’s story line, it doesn’t really go deep into the philosophical aspects, but it’s still entertaining.
Also, Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson are two really good actors (and on top of that, Scarlett isn’t really to hard on the eyes either… :-)).
The script is really interesting; it paints out a possible future scenario where greed, of course, is one of the driving forces. Another, really scary, factor is if the future would correspond to Microsoft’s product placement in this move. Watch it, and you’ll now what I mean.
I couldn't agree more. Scarlett is hot. Mega-hot. The movie itself is a nice action flick with an interesting plot to make it all happen..
I didn't notice Microsoft product placement though.. ? It's been a while since I've seen it.

Robert, ah, yes, MSN! I forgot about it. It's nice product placement though — quite a possibility. Though, instead of MSN, I'd like to see Google instead. 😉

Not sure about that either. I like Google, but imagine all the invalid code Google is infamous for spitting out, in every phone booth. 🙂
I too generally liked the movie but I got a bit annoyed with how a good actor like Scarlett was given so few lines but so much screen-time. Most of the time she only got to say "Yes" or "Why?" Also the Britneyfication of her was awful. I kept thinking of Lost in Translation and how her beauty was never forced into your face. But I guess that is what you should expect from Michael Bay.

You're absolutely right, and I think mr. Bay is to blame for that. I remember reading in some interview that they wanted to put the focus on Ewan's character, hence her role turned into more of eye candy-only part.
They definitely could've gone deeper with her and her background. Maybe in The Island 2? 😉
