Merlin, so I could magic my way out of the week i'm having or at least do a fancy ball trick or rabbit out of magic hat to get myself feeling better…..
I think I'd go for Merlin. To compare it to work environment, I see King Arthur as management and Merlin as a really sharp developer. Arthur gets the credit but Merlin was the really talented one… π
And Maaike, of course Guinevere should've been an option too. π

Merlin. He's a wizard and wizards rock π
King Arthur because it reminds me of Mark Twain's great novel A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, which I only discovered recently.
And I would not choose Merlin for the same reason.
Hmmm… in all the stories I've read/seen Merlin has been portrayed as somewhat devious, and being 'da King' rocks π
King Arthur – but only if Guinevere looked like Keira Knightley. π
Merlin! Why settle with mortality? π
Guinevere. I like being a girl π
Merlin. He's a kingmaker – more powerful than the king he put on the throne :p
Well, Merlin apparently lives backwards in time so yeah an easy choice.

Which by default means Arthur is the one. Soak in glory, riches and gorgeous young ladies and let everyone else do the hard work.
Arthur had Excalibur 1-0
Arthur had Guinevere 2-0
Arthur was king… 3-0
… of the Round Table 4-0
Arthur had shiny knights 5-0
Merlin walks backwards in time and knows magic 5-99999
I think they play in different leagues. :o)
Ed,
Ah, but what about self-fulfillment?
Müfit,
Yep. π
