Finally, time for another Geek Meet here in Stockholm!

Introducing Rob Hawkes

I am very happy to welcome my Mozilla colleague Rob Hawkes, who is devoted to HTML5 and games. He’s worked a lot on his game Rawkets, had fun with Google balls and he was also appointed Brilliant newcomer of the year by .net magazine

The presentations

Rob will give two presentations during Geek Meet:

Creating Games with HTML5 and JavaScript

In this talk he will give you an overview of the new role that browsers are adopting to support games and the technologies and processes that are helping that happen. This includes areas like 2D graphics with canvas, console-like 3D games with WebGL, gamepad support, immersive full-screen experiences, multiplayer games with WebSockets, and much more.

Boot to Gecko: The Future of Mobile

In this talk Rob will outline Mozilla’s Boot to Gecko project that aims to revolutionise the way we develop for mobile devices. I’ll highlight the key technologies involved in its creation and explain why a mobile experience created with HTML and JavaScript is a good idea.

Time & place

This time around, Geek Meet will be sponsored by Valtech, and will take place May 10th 18:00 in their office at Hantverkargatan 5 in Stockholm. Valtech will also provide beer and pizza to every attendant, all free of charge.
