Intro

I was still longing to see the Vatican, but we thought that Sundays wouldn't be a good time, with a lot of people there. Of course it turned out that the last Sunday every month you get a free entrance to the Vatican museums (normal price: €12 per person)...

Picture of the Tiber river

Today we followed the Tiber river down to Ponte Fabricio where we crossed over to an islet in it, Isola Tiberina. There we watched a just-married couple getting out of a church before moving on to the Trastevere district.

Me? I had some banana, boysenberry and pistachio.

After some time in the small alleys we came to Basilica di Santa Cecilia, a lovely little church and place, one of many based on a tale about a martyr. Lunch time after that, and we had some lovely cold plates with different sorts of salami, prosciutto and mozzarella cheese. We then walked by the Piazza Santa Maria before buying some gelato where Fredrika choose the extremely exciting flavors vanilla and chocolate. Me? I had some banana, boysenberry and pistachio.

And, naturally, just before we left we managed to spill out our wine carafe...

In the evening we decided to dress up and have a nice dinner with wine, and went to the Maccheroni restaurant. It ended up being a lovely evening with a good red wine together with a steak for Fredrika and Carpaccio for me (and bread for Emilia). During the dinner, we got to speak four different languages: Swedish to each other, (dabbling with) Italian to the waiters, English to the two guys sitting at the table next to ours, flirting with Emilia, and German to a German guy that had to move his chair and walk all the way out of the restaurant so we could get out with Emilia's stroller.

And, naturally, just before we left we managed to spill out our wine carafe with the wine that was left in it (and if I'm remembering it correctly, we walked by Pantheon on the way to our hotel...)...
